Make a Play

Theatre With Purpose – Stories That Matter

Bring your mission to life through theatre

Create an original, values-driven play with your community in just a matter of days.

Make a Play is an immersive, fast-paced theatre project where participants—whether children, adults, or mixed ages—collaborate to build, rehearse, and perform a completely original piece of theatre inspired by your organisation’s mission, values, or social/eco message. Perfect for charities, eco-projects, heritage groups, community organisations, businesses, and social impact initiatives.

What Make a Play Does

Using drama, storytelling and collective imagination, your group explores:

  • Your organisation’s key themes (community, environmental protection, wellbeing, heritage, etc.)

  • Social or ecological messages you want to bring to life

  • Stories of place, people, identity or purpose

  • Creative interpretations of your mission or impact

By the end, your participants share a fully original performance — created in collaboration with a professional director and theatre-maker.

Case Study: Malvern Spa Association

Over three days, families came together to create a play celebrating and protecting Malvern’s sacred spring water.

Participants, including children and adults, became “water guardians”, exploring the water’s origins, local folk legends, and why it needs protecting. Audiences were fully engaged, initiated as water guardians, learning while experiencing a vibrant, multisensory performance.

The project not only built participants’ confidence, pride, and sense of shared purpose, but also raised awareness of the Malvern Spa Association, its ethos, and its mission, leaving a lasting impact on the community.
