Ellie Scanlan
—a storyteller, theatre-maker, and imagination facilitator with over a decade of experience creating creative adventures and opportunities for people — particularly children and young people.

I think people are fascinating: everyone has a story to tell, ideas to share, and creativity to unlock — and I have the joy and privilege of helping them do just that. Through my workshops we play, laugh, and surprise ourselves — leaving more connected to each other and our own imaginations than when we began.

Over the last 10 years I’ve designed and delivered drama workshops for schools, theatres, nurseries, charities, and festivals, collaborating with organisations including Ledbury Poetry Festival, Shakespeare Schools Foundation, City of Westminster College, Gloucestershire Young Carers, University College Hospital, and the National Citizenship Service. I have also worked as a creative mentor, supporting people and emerging artists to unlock ideas, build confidence, and develop their own creative voices.
Alongside facilitation, I have a wide artistic practice. I’ve performed as a clown (Princess Pickle), trained in improvisation with Comic Sans Script, studied playwriting at the Royal Exchange Theatre and Wilton’s Music Hall, and acted in immersive theatre with Gingerline and Les Enfants Terribles. I’ve been a Youth Theatre Director at Omnibus Theatre, directed school productions with Huzzah Theatre, and directed a youth theatre production with City of Westminster College at the Triangle Theatre as part of Connections — the National Theatre’s nationwide youth theatre festival. I’ve also written and directed my own work at festivals including Red Lion Theatre Festival, Strike A Light, Croydonites, Camden Fringe, and Edinburgh Fringe.

When I’m not leading workshops or telling stories, you might find me wandering in the countryside, pootling on my bike, singing (musical theatre, folk, blues, jazz), doodling, writing, creating videos, or dreaming up dramatic dinner parties. I also have a book-buying addiction — forest, hills, libraries, theatres and galleries feel like sacred spaces to me.
